
Len Taylor was born and raised in North Battleford, Saskatchewan. He graduated from the University of Saskatchewan with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in 1974. He has made his home in North Battleford where he has worked as a journalist, owned his own business and provided financial and community planning services.
First elected to the provincial government in 2003, Mr. Taylor was named Minister of Health in February 2006. Prior to this he served as Minister of Government Relations. For two years he also served as a member of Treasury Board, Investments Board, the Legislative Instruments Committee, the Saskatchewan Development Fund Corporation, and the Municipal Financing Corporation. In 2005 he served as Government House Leader for one legislative session.
Prior to the 2003 Provincial election, Len Taylor was a Member of Parliament (1988-1997) for the federal constituency of The Battlefords- Meadow Lake, and later an elected member of the North Battleford City Council. He also served three terms on the Battlefords Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors and two three year terms as a member of the Saskatchewan Real Estate Commission, for which he was Chair of the Legislative Committee. Additional community service includes membership in the North West Historical Society, The Battlefords Agricultural Society, The Battle River Settlement Foundation, Sons of Norway, the North Battleford Library Board, and the Executive Committee of the Lakeland Region Library Board, the Battlefords Wildlife Federation, and the Battlefords Interval House Society.
In his current legislative capacity, Len serves as the critic responsible for Enterprise and Innovation, and is a member of the Legislative Assembly’s Economy committee. From 2007 through 2009 he was the Opposition House Leader. For a brief period of time Len also served as the Interim Leader of the New Democratic Party.
Len Taylor has two adult children. He is married to Cheryl Cook-Taylor.
